Managing conflict in the workplace
Difficult people and situations can be managed. When they’re not managed effectively, the work environment becomes increasingly vulnerable to negative attitudes that can culminate in damaging and costly outcomes. A manager’s assertive, rather than aggressive/submissive behaviour, can reduce the spiralling pressures and stresses that cause people to act and think negatively, or under-perform.

This workshop has been specifically designed to enable individuals to practise assertive approaches to the many difficult situations they face as managers. The training exercises mirror real life scenarios. In a safe environment, role plays will introduce delegates to defensive or negative people who, in various ways, cause problems and conflict. With expert guidance and individual support, delegates will learn and implement proven techniques to deal with people effectively.

target audience
This module is relevant for Managers, Supervisors and those who have completed all the core modules, and need to learn and practise positive assertiveness techniques which need to be used to reduce conflict within their workplace.

overview
This course combines both theory and practice allowing the delegates to understand when,
how and what approach to take in handling conflict.
It explores how to deal with others effectively, how to adopt a more assertive attitude, produce more effective relationships through persuasive, influencing and assertive communication techniques.

Delegates will gain the confidence to approach conflict with a positive attitude through taking part in a series of role-plays in a safe environment allowing them to take these skills back to the workplace.
