Essential Skills for New Managers
Being a manager is an exciting, but often daunting, prospect offering challenge and opportunity. In order to be fully effective you will need to consolidate existing skills and acquire a new range of management techniques and strategies. It is these key skills which will allow you to harmonise and exploit positive personality traits, within the team and workplace,
in order to improve morale, generate productivity and so develop high performance standards that the team will want to maintain.

This Workshop has been specifically designed to provide managers with the time to stand back from the work environment and join an intensive and interactive forum of delegates, arm them with a portfolio of management techniques, reinforce their strengths as a manager, and help them to identify areas where they can improve both their efficiency and working relationships.

Typical elements for the Workshop include understanding the role of a manager, leadership styles, influencing and  negotiation, management planning, managing personalities positively, effective delegation, understanding and managing conflict, developing successful strategies to motivate your team and learn invaluable communication skills.

target audience
This workshop is designed for any individual who has experience in a managerial role; is new to line management or wants to progress into a managerial role. It can be attended by delegates requiring fine tuning of their supervisory skills or those less experienced in their role.

overview
This workshop provides delegates with an insight into what it takes to be an effective manager and provides an understanding of the skills required to successfully motivate, influence and negotiate with staff to achieve win/win outcomes.

In addition, delegates will gain a working knowledge of the positive personalities within their team and learn how to exploit these to produce harmonious team working as well as being able to handle situations of conflict. Armed with a portfolio skills, tools and techniques will allow delegates to manage their own behaviour and that of their staff . Delegates will also have the opportunity to practice their communication skills in a range of role play scenarios and to reflect on their performance through peer feedback.
